Dr Shuo Zhang is working with South London Listens and Lambeth Council Public Health to improve engagement with young people and families waiting for a CAMHS appointment.
On the 5th of March, Dr Shuo Zhang (Wellcome Trust Clinical Doctoral Fellow, CAMHS Digital Lab) met with Danielle Perlman (CAMHS Project Lead, South London Listens) Neil Balmer (Programme Lead, South London Listens), Margherita Sweetlove (Public Health Specialist – Mental Health and Wellbeing, Lambeth Council). This was the second time everyone met up to discuss how myHealthE could help in meeting the new community pledge on co-producing an action plan that will improve engagement with families and young people waiting for a CAMHS appointment.
Â
It is great to share this passion and commitment to work together to improve families’ experience of help seeking with South London Listens and Local Authority Public Health colleagues.
Â
MyHealthE is an online platform developed by the CAMHS Digital Lab, that is used by CAMHS teams across Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark to collect routine questionnaires for clinical care. The platform now also has information about the families’ local CAMHS service as well as helpful resources for parents as part of a ‘virtual waiting room’.
Â
We are keen to involve young people and parents in co-curating the resources and to co-develop ways to deliver key resources so that will they are more accessible and targeted to reflect the diversity of families across South East London.
 Â
Dr Shuo Zhang is currently actively looking to hear from young people and parents in South London who want to be part of a steering group what will be closely involved with a research project around what happens whilst young people are waiting for CAMHS. She is particularly keen to support the participation of those who are from backgrounds that are underrepresented in research.
