Sophie Epstein passes her PhD Viva

23/11/23

Dr. Sophie Epstein joins the ranks of 'double Dr.' as she finishes her PhD on the relationship between school absence and mental health

Our congratulations to Dr. Sophie Epstein, who just passed her PhD Viva!

In her PhD, Sophie used data linkages between the National Pupil Database, CAMHS records, and the Millenium Cohort Study to investigate the longitudinal relationship between school absence and later mental health. She also developed natural language processing techniques to identify instances of self-harm in CAMHS records. To learn more about Sophie’s important and pioneering research, you’ll have to read her forthcoming journal articles; watch this space!

Now officially a clinical academic, Sophie will continue to work closely with the CAMHS Digital Lab, supporting the implementation of the myJournE platform in local schools.
